We live in the future, and IT is the study of how to "future" properly. I'm in IT because it's awesome. You're not just getting somebody with the skills to get the job done, you're getting somebody that wants to know everything about everything. Looking stuff up is an important part of our job, but a good intuition is developed by doing.
